POP settings checklist

The five things that are wrong nearly every time.

Work down this list before contacting us. Most failed setups come down to one of these.
Type your domain name and the settings below will fill in for you.
Incoming mail (POP3)
Server / host namemail.yourdomain.com.au
Port995
EncryptionSSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
Server / host namemail.yourdomain.com.au
Port465
EncryptionSSL/TLS
Authentication requiredYes — same username and password
Both servers
Usernameyour full email address
Passwordyour mailbox password

Incoming and outgoing use the same host name. If your internet provider blocks port 465 for sending, try port 587 with STARTTLS instead.

  1. Username is the full email address. Not just the part before the @. This catches out more people than anything else.
  2. Server name is mail. followed by your domain, spelled exactly as it appears after the @ in your email address. Check for a missing letter or the wrong extension (.com vs .com.au).
  3. The outgoing (SMTP) server needs a username and password too. Many apps label these as optional. They are not. If receiving works but sending fails, this is almost always why.
  4. Encryption is on. SSL/TLS must be enabled for both incoming and outgoing, with the ports shown above. Never set the connection to "None".
  5. The password is correct. Test it by signing in to webmail first. If webmail works, the password is fine and the problem is a setting. If webmail also fails, contact us for a password reset.
  6. If everything above checks out and it still fails, your IP address is probably blocked. See Your IP address may be blocked on this page.
Still stuck? Open a support ticket with support@diskman.net and include your email address, your device and mail app, your IPv4 address, and a screenshot of the error. That gives us everything we need to fix it on the first reply.
