Apple Mail
The Mail app built into macOS.
Before you start, have your full email address and mailbox password handy. Your username is always your full email address, not just the part before the @. Both the incoming and outgoing server are mail. followed by your own domain name.
| Incoming mail (POP3) | |
|---|---|
| Server / host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
| Port | 995 |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing mail (SMTP) | |
| Server / host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
| Port | 465 |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS |
| Authentication required | Yes — same username and password |
| Both servers | |
| Username | your full email address |
| Password | your mailbox password |
Incoming and outgoing use the same host name. If your internet provider blocks port 465 for sending, try port 587 with STARTTLS instead.

- Enter your name, full email address and password, then click Sign In.

- Once the account is added, go to Mail → Settings → Accounts and select your new account.
- On the Server Settings tab, untick Automatically manage connection settings for both incoming and outgoing, then set the ports and tick Use TLS/SSL as shown in the table.
- Set Authentication to Password for both servers and confirm the username is your full email address.
- Click Save.
- On the Advanced tab, tick Remove copy from server after retrieving a message: After one week if you also read this mailbox elsewhere.
Reading mail on more than one device? POP downloads messages onto the device. Make sure "leave a copy of messages on the server" is switched on in every mail app, otherwise whichever device checks first will take the mail away from the others.
