Outlook for Mac
Microsoft Outlook on macOS.
Before you start, have your full email address and mailbox password handy. Your username is always your full email address, not just the part before the @. Both the incoming and outgoing server are mail. followed by your own domain name.
| Incoming mail (POP3) | |
|---|---|
| Server / host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
| Port | 995 |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing mail (SMTP) | |
| Server / host name | mail.yourdomain.com.au |
| Port | 465 |
| Encryption | SSL/TLS |
| Authentication required | Yes — same username and password |
| Both servers | |
| Username | your full email address |
| Password | your mailbox password |
Incoming and outgoing use the same host name. If your internet provider blocks port 465 for sending, try port 587 with STARTTLS instead.
- Open Outlook. From the menu bar choose Outlook → Settings → Accounts.
- Click the + button and choose Add Account.
- Type your full email address and click Continue.
- When Outlook cannot find the settings, choose POP from the provider list (you may need to click "Not [provider]?" or "Choose the provider").
- Enter your full email address as the username and your mailbox password.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server names and ports from the table above, and tick Use SSL to connect for both.
- Click Add Account, then Done.
- Back on the account screen, click Advanced → Server and tick Leave a copy of each message on the server if you also read this mailbox on a phone.
Reading mail on more than one device? POP downloads messages onto the device. Make sure "leave a copy of messages on the server" is switched on in every mail app, otherwise whichever device checks first will take the mail away from the others.
